J&K has seen a reasonable increase in its economic activities in the recent past and is working towards overcoming the memories of separatism and insurgency which somehow slowdown the economic activities of J&K by badly effecting the tourism sector which remained the front runner for decades together in the GDP of the State, he added.
He informed that the tourist inflow in J&K which was 50,000 per day in early 1980’s has been reduced to meager 500 per day by the onset of 21st century.
He said that demonetization by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is a surgical strike on the corruption, naxalism, separatism, counterfeit currency, militancy, human trafficking, adding that demonetization would prove to be boon for the economic activities and strengthening the economic condition of not only one State but the whole country. The States like J&K, North-East, Bihar, Odisha, West Bengal and others being the worst sufferers of such evils would be the major beneficiaries now, he added.
