Kathua Police rescues 12 bovine animals, arrests 2 smugglers

KATHUA, Dec 2: In continuation to drive launched against the bovine smuggling,  Kathua Police has rescued 12 bovine animals from a truck at Magga Khad in Kathua area this morning.
According to police a team of Police Post Industrial Estate, Kathua  acting on specific information under the supervision of SHO P/S Kathua/DySP Hqrs. Kathua and overall supervision of SSP Kathua imposed a naka at Maggar Khad and intercepted a truck bearing Number. JK21B-8617 plying from Punjab towards Samba via Maggar Khad.
During checking of the vehicle, 12 bovine animals (Oxen) were found loaded in it which were being smuggled from Punjab to J&K via Maggar Khad. Accused persons namely Pritam Singh S/o Suram Singh R/o Sangar Tehsil & district Reasi and Bhushan Kumar S/o Mohan Lal R/o Tranthal Tehsil & district Udhampur were arrested on spot. A case FIR No. 456/2016 U/S 188 RPC, 3/5 Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act has been registered at Police Station Kathua through PP Industrial Estate Kathua and investigation is in progress.
