K-pop group 2NE1 splits

LOS ANGELES, Nov 29:  K-pop group 2NE1 is splitting up after seven years together.
The band was formed in 2009 with members CL, Bom, Dara, and Minzy, but singer Minzy departed the group in 2014. Following her exit, the group went on hiatus and it has since been announced 2NE1 is officially splitting, reported Billboard.
“Our contract with 2NE1 came to an end in May of 2016, and as we faced a situation where Minzy is no longer with us, we ultimately came to a decision of 2NE1’s official disbandment after long discussion,” a statement read.
“For the past seven years, 2NE1 was a representative group of YG (Entertainment). We, too, cannot express how upset and disappointed we are. However, we judge that it’ll be difficult to continue promoting. We decided that instead of looking forward to 2NE1’s unpredictable promotions, we should rather focus on the solo promotions of the members. We sincerely appreciate everyone who loved 2NE1 and their music.”
CL and Dara have resigned with YG Entertainment to pursue solo careers, but it is unclear what Bom’s future plans are for her career. (PTI)
