JU employees curtail duration of strike after Minister’s assurance

JAMMU, Mar 27: Following the assurance by Education Minister for positive consideration to their genuine demands, the agitating non-teaching and non-gazetted employees of the Jammu University today announced to curtail duration of their daily token protest from six hours to one hour.
Decision in this regard was taken after a meeting of the representative of agitating employees with the Education Minister Altaf Bukhari and Commissioner Secretary, Higher Education, who assured that genuine demands will be redressed at the earliest.
Thereafter, as a good will gesture and keeping in view the closure of financial year 2016-17, the JUNTEU and JUNGEU in consultation with the senior employees of both the unions reduced the timing of protest demonstration for only one hour between 10.00 a.m to 11.00 am.
Earlier, continuing their token strike for the 25th consecutive day, the non-teaching and non-gazetted employees suspended their work for six and held a strong protest demonstration in front of the Vice-Chancellor’s Secretariat.
During the protest demonstration, the agitating employees raised slogans for fulfillment of their demands. Several speakers addressed the gathering during the protest demonstration.
The demonstration was addressed by Pawan Singh Bhau , Vijay Kumar, Sham Sharma, Ashwani Bakshi, Vikas Langer, Abhinav Sharma, Vidhya Lal, Banarasi Lal, Padam Shri Padamani, Niranjan Singh Charak, Joginder Singh Chib, Kewal Kumar, Sunita Amla, Jarnail Singh, Raj Kumar, .Om Parkash and Ashok Kumar.
