NEW DELHI, June 29: J&K Minister for Rural Development, Panchayati Raj and Law & Justice Abdul Haq Khan called on Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Youth Affairs and Sports, MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh and discussed wide range of issues relating to the State of J&K, the Department of Rural Development, Law, Railways and his constituency of Lolab in Kashmir Valley.
Dr Jitendra Singh assured Abdul Haq Khan that the Central Government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is committed to provide every possible assistance and cooperation to the Mehbooba Mufti Government in Jammu & Kashmir to ensure good governance and equitable development of all the regions of the State. He said, in the last two years, not only the Modi Government has provided an unprecedented 80,000 Cr package for J&K State but has also made liberal financial allocations for construction of roads and expansion of rail networks.
Dr Jitendra Singh expressed the hope that PDP-BJP Government in J&K will be able to live up to the expectations of all the three regions of Jammu, Ladakh and Kashmir and successfully overcome the challenge posed to PDP by undemocratic forces in the Valley and the challenge posed to BJP in Jammu by political parties and groups who are yet to digest the emergence of BJP as a ruling Party.
The common man in J&K, said Dr Jitendra Singh, accords highest priority to development, livelihood and improved standard of living, and therefore, if the coalition government honestly follows this agenda, the common masses are bound to reject the negative propaganda by disgruntled elements.
Abdul Haq Khan made a strong plea to Dr Jitendra Singh for renovation and upgradation of the courts in smaller towns of the State like, for example, Reasi and Katra in Jammu region and Kupwara and Qazigund in Kashmir Valley and sought Centre’s assistance for the same. He said that a request for financial assistance has been made for the purpose to the Centre and sought Dr Jitendra Singh’s intervention to pursue it with Union Law Minister Sadananda Gowda.
Haq also submitted to Dr Jitendra Singh some references related to road construction work in peripheral parts of the State which, he wanted him to follow up with the Central government.
Haq further requested Dr Jitendra Singh to take up with the Railway Minister the issue of further expansion of Railway network in the State, including the laying of 30 kms of Rail track from Baramulla to Kupwara which will also benefit his Assembly Constituency of Lolab.
