JAMMU, Mar 3: Continuing its drive against the bottlenecks coming in the way of development, the JDA sealed 53 shops at Old Bus Stand here. These shops were coming in the alignment of Multi Tier Parking being constructed by Shapoorji Pallonji Company.
It is pertinent to mention that this project is one of the mega projects being executed by the JDA at the cost of Rs 213 crore and some bottlenecks were coming in the way of development and the project remained stuck for eleven months.
However, under the leadership of Deputy Chief Minister, Chairman (JDA) who is incharge Minister for Housing and Urban Development Department, the JDA with the assistance of District and Divisional administration got all bottlenecks removed one by one and the last hindrance of 53 shops stands also removed.
The last slot of 53 shopkeepers were adamant to shift for the last four months on one or the other pretext and later on moved to the Court. However the JDA as per the decision of the steering committee had offered them rehabilitation measures but even then the shops were not closed by shopkeepers. The shopkeepers later moved to court and the Hon’ble High Court had directed to maintain status quo. But the court finally has disposed of the case and the JDA in compliance to the court order immediately took possession and sealed all 53 shops.
The Vice Chairman, JDA, RK Shavan, said that JDA will scrutinize all record of shopkeepers immediately so that the eligible get the compensation and the ineligible who are defaulters of JDA and have tempered with the buildings by amalgamation/bifurcation in violation of lease deed provisions are identified and suitable action taken.
