Jan for safety audit of Poonch roads

POONCH, July 14: Terming dilapidated road stretches in different areas of Poonch as death traps for public, Youth National Conference leader Ajaz Jan has called for safety audit of roads and has castigated state government for its complete failure to repair the roads which got damaged in 2014 floods and 2015 incessant rains.
Jan said this in a statement issued after completion of two days visit of Poonch and Mandi area of the district.
Jan said that roads are a basic developmental element and good road network of any area opens new door of development.
“Situation is not good when it comes to Poonch and poor road condition expose callous approach of Government and it’s step motherly treatment with people of Poonch” Jan said.
“Road in Arai belt of Mandi was damaged in flash flood years ago and is yet to be repaired while Shahpur road damaged in 2014 is still craving for Government’s attention” Jan said further adding that a dream of a link road in Bhainch village is yet to get complete.
Jan said that not only state government departments, but condition of main road from Poonch to Chandak maintained by BRO exposes callous approach of central departments towards Poonch’s road connectivity.
He also sought to probe into the utilization of funds for maintaince of roads in Poonch hinting alleged misuse of the same by different departments.
