SRINAGAR, Apr 7: Police today arrested an impersonator introducing himself as a policeman from Police Station Soura and demanding money from a person whose brother was in police custody in connection with a criminal case.
A Police spokesman said that on a written complaint from one person (name withheld), a resident of Anchar Soura Srinagar stating that his brother who was arrested by police in connection with his involvement in criminal case few days back, and was approached by one Manzoor Ahmad Mir @ Kachra, a resident of Gulabagh Srinagar A/P Masala Colony Soura Srinagar.
He said this man introduced himself as a policeman from Police Station Soura and demanded money to facilitate for the release of his brother from Police. “The matter was verified and it transpired that the said person has impersonated himself as a Policeman. In this connection, a case with FIR No. 47/2018 under section 419 RPC was registered in P/S Soura and investigation is taken up and the said impersonator was accordingly arrested,” he said.
