DODA, Sept 19: Forest Department has seized 15 scants of deodar from the possession of person at Mohallah Khota in the district.
As per officials spokesman, on specific information, the sleuths of Forest Division Doda led by Range Officer Kontwara Haroon Khan conducted raid at village Kotha and seized 15 scants of deodar from the possession of a person identified as Jagdish Raj, son of Faqir Chand.
“Jagdish Raj failed to produce any valid documents prompting the forest team to seize the timber in front of village Nambardar and Chowkidar”, spokes said.
The raid was conducted under the supervision of Alok Muriya, DFO Doda and TB Singh, Conservator Forest Chenab Circle.
When contacted CF Chenab Circle TB Singh confirmed the seizure and said a case under relevant sections of the Forest Act has been registered against the accused and investigation started to ascertain how he managed to procure timber illegally. Singh further said that tough action will be taken against persons inflicting damage to forest or encroaching forest land.
