IGP reviews security of Chenani-Nashri Tunnel

JAMMU, Mar 8: In view of the forthcoming VVIP visit to inaugurate Chenani-Nashri Tunnel, Dr SD Singh, IGP, Jammu Zone, paid a visit to Chenani-Nashri Tunnel to see the existing security arrangements and also security arrangement required to be made on opening of tunnel for both way traffic.
During the visit, he held detailed discussion with the officers of police/civil administration as well as representatives of NHW A-I authority to ensure enhanced security measures for the safety and security of tunnel.
DIG Doda-Kishtwar-Ramban Range, DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range, DIG CRPF Ops, Jammu, Deputy Commissioner Udhampur/ Ramban, SSP CID SB, SSP Security, SSP Ramban, SSP Udhampur, SP Traffic NHW and representatives of NHW-1 Authority were also present.
After review of the security arrangement of the Tunnel, the IGP left for Ramban where a durbar of officers/jawans was held in DPL Ramban. The IGP gave patient hearing to the problems put forth by the officers/jawans and directed the supervisory officers i.e. DIG DKR Range and SSP Ramban to redress the genuine demands of officers/jawans on priority.
Besides, a meeting was held with senior citizens at DC Office Ramban and during interaction IGP Jammu assured them their genuine problems will be addressed by taking the matter at appropriate level. DR SD Singh also requested the senior citizen/participants to keep close watch over criminal/anti national elements in their area and also become ear and eyes of police department
Thereafter, a meeting was also held with Gazetted officers in DPO Ramban to review the Crime/law and order of the district Ramban. The IGP directed the supervisory officer to lay more thrust to minimize the pendency of UI cases and Inquest proceeding. It was also emphasized upon the participants to ensure optimum use of the resources available and make sincere efforts to achieve the desired results.
