Holi celebrated with zeal, fervour

JAMMU, Mar 11: Holi–the festival of colours was celebrated with zeal and fervour.
A Holi Milan function was organized in the lawns of Raj Bhavan here today in which Governor NN Vohra and First Lady Usha Vohra, celebrated the festival of colours with the officers and staff of the Governor’s Secretariat, and their families.
Governor and the First Lady extended Holi greetings and offered sweets to all those assembled on the occasion. They interacted with the children, families and staff of the Governor’s Secretariat and had pictures taken with them. They wished them good health and happiness.
Governor presented a cheque of Rs 1100 to Muskan Choudhary, daughter of S Mohinder Lal Choudhary, Driver Constable, Raj Bhavan Security, for securing the 1st position in 7th SOF International English Olympiad. The Governor and the First Lady congratulated Choudhary and wished continuing success in all her future endeavours.
Governor on the occasion prayed for peace, harmony, progress and prosperity in the State.
NCE celebrated holi festival in college premises. All the students of B.Ed 1st and 2nd semesters celebrated Holi. Students used dry colours and gave message to the society that they should save million gallon of water which gets wasted during Holi celebrations. Principal Dr Manju Dwivedi said that cultural activities are also useful for over all development of students’ personality. Staff members including Neena Sharma, Vijay Laxmi, Neetu Sharma, Yashumati Jamwal and Sahil Raina were also present on the occasion.
SM Jain Higher Secondary School celebrated Holi. Principal Suresh Gupta highlighted the importance of the festival.
Holi was celebrated at Dewan Devi Higher Secondary School, Rajpura Mangotrian with great enthusiasm. Students sprinkled colours on each other. Teachers also participated in the celebrations. The tiny toddlers of the kindergarten wing clad in Radha Krishna costumes played with pichkaries and presented a colourful programme. Principal of the school encouraged the students to celebrate each festival with great gaiety.
Bhartiya Shiksha Kender High School, Domana celebrated Holi. On the occasion, the students used herbal colours to celebrate eco friendly Holi with classmates and teachers. Chairman Rajinder Singh Chib and Principal Sandhya Raj Pathania wished all the students and staff members to have safe eco friendly Holi and enjoy the festival of colours with their families and friends.
Apple Kids International Pre-School, Bantalab celebrated Holi. On the occasion, students made a lot of fun by smearing colors on each other. Students also danced on the tunes of famous Holi numbers. Meanwhile, the students were also given knowledge of colors of different things. They were also told that like many other festivals in India, Holi also signifies a victory of good over evil. Teachers also informed the students about the precautions to be taken while playing Holi. They were also encouraged to play dry Holi and thus save water. Principal of the school Arti Sharma briefed the students about the importance of the festival.
Aryans Little Buds Institute Bishnah celebrated Holi with pomp and show. Principal of the School, Chairperson, staff members and students participated in the function. Colourful cultural programes was presented by the students, who also played Holi with colours. Principal Anju Gupta and Chairperson Mohan Gupta threw light on the importance of the festival.
Holi festival was celebrated with jail inmates of District Jail Jammu with zest and zeal. The brotherhood atmosphere was witnessed when the inmates were exchanging the greetings with each other. On behalf of DGP Prisons Masood Fazali, Superintendent of Jail extended greetings to the inmates and the jail staff. Sweets were also distributed among the inmates and jail staff.
