JAMMU, July 11: Head, Department of Oncology, Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu was today caught red handed while doing practice at a private clinic under the name and style of ‘Jammu City Centre’ here at Canal Road.
According to official sources, acting on the complaints of public that HoD Oncology, GMCH Jammu, Dr Ashutosh Gupta, is engaged in public practice, a team of Vigilance department led by SSP Shabir Malik and Deputy SP, HL Pandita, today conducted a raid at Jammu City Centre and found the doctor engaging in private practice, which is banned by the Government for all HoDs.
At the time of raid, 13 patients were found in the clinic. Out of 13 patients, four were registered GMCH patients having registration slips of the hospital and they were called by the doctor at his clinic.
Besides, Dr Ashutosh, Dr Gurpreet Singh (ASCOMS Hospital) and Dr Shelly (wife of Dr Ashutosh), who is a Government doctor and presently posted at a hospital in Ghagwal, were also present in the clinic and examining the patients.
Sources said that all the records were seized by the vigilance team and further enquiry initiated. They said that the clinic was registered on the name of Ved Pal Gupta, father of the Dr Ashutosh Gupta.
