Guv expresses grief, announces Rs 5 lakh ex-gratia to yatri

SRINAGAR: Governor N N Vohra today expressed grief over the death of Lalita Ben, a yatri who was injured in a militant attack on a bus carrying pilgrims in south Kashmir district of Anantnag on July 10.

He also announced relief of Rs 5 lakh to the next of kin of the deceased on behalf of the Shrine Board.

An official spokesman said that on the direction of Governor, who is also chairman of the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB), Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of board Umang Narula has made all arrangements for the mortal remains of Lalita Ben to be sent to her home town, Surat, by air, along with an attendant, Amit Kumar, a resident of Gujarat.        

As discussed by the Governor a J&K Police official would also accompany the dead body. Lalita Ben (age 55) wife of Bangobin, resident of District Valsad, Gujarat, was seriously injured in a militant attack in a bus on 10th July 2017 in which 7 Yatris had died on the spot. (AGENCIES)
