JAMMU, Feb 14: Alleging that children belonging to ST are being ignored for long and are not being paid scholarships while the whole Tribal Department in collaboration with Social Welfare Department are fetching and minting money from scholarships, prominent Gujjar and Bakerwal leader Choudhary Nazakat Khatana has demanded a probe into the matter.
Addressing a press conference, Ch Khatana said that the department deputed for scholarship has changed its office five times in Jammu city and Srinagar also just to befool people of J&K. He accused officials and higher authorities including Commissioner of Tribal Authority for this mess.
He said that many tainted officials of the Tribal Department who were earlier suspended for their mischief, are either being deputed or has been deputed again in the department, which clearly shows involvement of even top officials in this scholarship scam.
He demanded an impartial and detailed enquiry into the matter so that needy and poor ST children could get their right of scholarship.
