Govt rewarding anti-nationals: Sham Lal

Excelsior Correspondent

JAMMU, Mar 8: Former Minister  and senior Congress leader Sham Lal Sharma has expressed serious concern over the statement of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti made at youth convention in Srinagar that her Government will withdraw the cases registered against stone pelters and rehabilitate them by providing jobs in Government and semi-Government sectors.
While addressing Block Congress Committee Akhnoor monthly meeting Sham expressed surprise for taking pains by CM to provide job opportunities to these youth belonging to Kashmir and for this she is inviting Prime Minister to the valley for getting his support. Sham further added that though he is not against the youth of the valley but at the same time the youth from Jammu region who are nationalists and never ever indulge in anti-national activities should not be given step-motherly treatment.
He further said that this gives an impression to the youth that those who indulge in antinational activities and violence are rehabilitated and provided with jobs. This means nothing but provocation to youth of Jammu region.
Reminding the BJP Ministers  that when Army jawans were killed in Valley while defending the nation’s freedom and its borders, they had made the statement that the State Government did not have any policy to pay ex-gratia to the martyrs. “Under which policy was the ex-gratia and jobs announced for those who had waged war against the State, destroyed Police Stations and security camps, burnt schools, snatched weapons from armed forces, killed several security personnel besides injuring to thousands?” Sham Sharma asked.
Sham expressed his anger over the recent brural lathicharge on innocent students who were peacefully protesting against the setting of physics question paper out of pattern. In this lathicharge the girl students were also not spared. while the students of Kashmir valley were given 50% Grace marks to get them qualified in the exams.
Sham asked BJP-PDP Government as to why dual standards are being maintained i.e one for Jammu youths and the other for those who have indulged in various anti-national activities.
Sham said that there are about 61000 daily wagers, NHM, Contractual lecturers, Anganwari workers and helpers who are on roads for absorption in their respective departments and some of them are facing starvation and on the other hand Government is making efforts to rehabilitate Kashmiri youth by providing jobs. He said that Government should prioritize this issue and first of all regularise the daily wagers, NHM, Contractual Lecturers, Anganwari workers and helpers.
