JAMMU, Dec 31:    J&K SC, ST, BC Development Corporation,  vice chairman, Balbir Ram Rattan, today called upon the people with physical disabilities in the State to come forward without any hesitation to seek the help provided by the Corporation through various welfare schemes of State and Central Government.
He  emphasized that people with any form of disability should not feel isolated nor should they consider inferior in any way to others as there are ample instances to illustrate physically disabled persons have performed better and excelled in many fields.
Speaking at a programme organized by Handicapped Welfare Association, Balbir said the organization as told holds monthly meetings under its president Rajinder Singh Manhas in which the problems of the people are discussed besides making them aware about welfare schemes and initiatives of the Government for people with physical disabilities.
In the program at  Akhnoor today, Balbir Ram said that disability is no more considered to be a stigma or less capability as people having any such problems have overcome it with their strong will power and excelled far better than normal citizens in various fields, despite facing struggle and difficulties.
Balbir further said that no society can progress unless the people of this category moves ahead with progress as they are part and parcel who should get their respectful place besides avenues for better living. He said it is for this reason the Government is laying emphasis on development and progress of physically disabled people and coming out with various welfare schemes.
In order to avoid trouble of travel and unnecessary expenditure, he also distributed application forms to the loan aspirants on spot and explained in detail the procedural steps about the same to avail the loan facilities offered by the Government.
Social activist  Anju Dogra, Handicap Welfare Association general secretary Mohinder Pal Sharma and treasurer Vijay Kumar also spoke on the occasion.
