KATRA, June 7:  Agreeing to the demands of inhabitants of Katra and Purana Daroor, Governor N N Vohra, who is Chairman Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, has directed CEO of the Shrine Board to undertake time bound action to see that the Banganga Track is linked to the Tarakote Marg with a Link Road which takes off from Gulshan Langar.
This decision has come after the Governor accepted the report of Bloeria Committee which he had constituted for looking into the demand of the local residents regarding the point from which the Banganga Track should be connected to Tarakote Marg.
Relevant to recall that Governor N  N  Vohra had assured the delegation of prominent citizens of Katra town, which had met him at the Raj Bhavan Jammu on 1-3-2017 that a committee headed by Dr  S  S  Bloeria, Board Member, will visit the site to view all aspects of their demands and settle the matter. Consequently, the Committee headed by Dr Bloeria and comprising B B Vyas, Member Shrine Board, visited the site of the proposed link near Darshani Deodi and held discussions with prominent citizens of Purana Daroor, Banganga and Katra Town. The citizens had demanded construction of a link road which takes off from Gulshan Langar to connect with Tarakote Marg. CEO Shrine Board apprised the Committee that private land falling in the alignment of the demanded link road would require to be made available by the owners to the Shrine Board if the link road was to commence from Gulshan Langar.
The locals had assured the Committee that the privately owned land, which falls on the proposed alignment, shall be provided free of cost for construction of the link from Gulshan Langar to Tarakote Marg. The land owners have since agreed to donate the required land free of cost and furnished affidavits to Deputy Commissioner Reasi. The locals of Katra and Purana Daroor have also assured the Committee that they will have no further objection in Tarakote Marg, from Katra to Adhkuwari, being operationalised once the link road taking off from Gulshan Langar has connected the Banganga Track to the Tarakote Marg.
Governor has constituted a Consultative Committee, headed by Dr S S Bloeria, and comprising B B Vyas, Ajeet Kumar Sahu (CEO of Shrine Board) and Ravinder Kumar, Deputy Commissioner Reasi, for looking into other demands made by the citizens of Katra and Purana Daroor for development of the area.
