JAMMU, Jan 27: N.N Vohra, the Governor today visited the site of the upcoming Campus of the Central University of Jammu at village Bagla in Raya Suchani, district Samba, and was briefed by Dr. Sudhir Bloeria, Vice Chancellor, and Project Consultants and those incharge of the ongoing construction of the Campus about the Master Plan of the University, Phase 1 of the construction plan and the to date progress achieved so far.
The Governor observed that construction of the Campus should keep in mind the topography and contours of the site so that there is least disturbance of the existing landscape. For meeting the current and future water requirements, the Governor suggested the construction of a number of check dams in the entire Campus area as well as along the adjoining stream. He also asked R. K Varma,  District Development Commissioner, Samba,  to urgently move a proposal for funding under CRF of a 4 lane approach road to the  University.
The Governor had a detailed on-the-spot review of the under construction Distance Education Block of the Central University and was briefed about the basic and supplementary facilities to be created in this as well as in other complexes which are presently under construction.
Later,the Governor visited the Temporary Academic Block of the Central University at Sainik Colony, Jammu, and went round the classrooms, library, computer laboratory, auditorium and other facilities.
He also had informal interactions with the students, scholars and faculty and discussed with them the subjects on which they are carrying out research and the additional facilities which they require. He suggested to the Faculty of Public Policy Studies to critically evaluate the Government  policies and take up the case studies for assessing the impact of Centrally Sponsored Schemes like MGNREGA, PMGSY etc. He also suggested to the Faculty  of Strategic Studies to carry out research on AFSPA, Civil and Military Relations, Higher Defence Management etc.
Navin K. Choudhary, Principal Secretary to the Governor, Rajiv Gupta, Pro- Vice Chancellor, Central University, R.K Varma, District Development Commissioner, Samba were among those present on the occasion.
