Ganga kick-starts macadamization of road

SAMBA, Dec 10: Underscoring the importance of better roads for holistic development, Minister for Industries and Commerce, Chander Parkash Ganga today said that provision of surface connectivity to all areas is being given first priority by the Government.
The Minister kick started macadamization work of 2 kilometers road from Teli Basti to National Highway at Bari Brahmana in Samba district. The work is being executed by Public Works Department under city road and town scheme at an estimated cost of Rs 50 lakh.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that various road projects have already been completed in the State and work is afoot on many other road projects which will upgrade the existing road connectivity adding that this will accelerate development, trade and commerce. He assured that all link and major roads in Bari Brahmana will be upgraded in a phased manner.
The Minister directed executing agencies to gear up their men and machinery to complete all the projects in stipulated time frame so that people get early benefits of development. On the occasion, Executive Engineer, PWD, K S Nathyal and other officers were also present.
The Minister also held public redressal camp to listen public grievances and demands.
Meanwhile, several deputations from Jammu region apprised the Minister about their problems mostly pertaining to roads, water and power supply, irrigation, drainage, health and education. The Minister while giving a patient hearing to the deputations assured that all their genuine demands and grievances would be redressed at earliest.
The Minister said that all out efforts are being made to provide better road connectivity, clean drinking water, uninterrupted electricity supply and upgraded educational and health infrastructure to the people of the State, especially those living in rural and far off areas.
