Former DGP Khan passes away

SRINAGAR, July 11: Hundreds of mourners bade tearful adieu to Abdul Samad Khan, former Director General Fire & Emergency Services, who passed away here Monday.
Former Chief Minister and Member Parliament, Dr Farooq Abdullah was among the mourners.
Khan’s death has been mourned widely across the State by official as well as social circles. Khan had served in different capacities including SP Srinagar, DIG, CID, J&K, Vigilance Commissioner, J&K and retired as DG Fire & Emergency Services in April 1985. He is credited with doing pioneering work in expanding the Fire and Emergency Services Department in the State. He was known for his uprightness and nobility.
Congregational Fateha Khawani of the deceased will take place at Sofi Mohalla Mazaar, Umerhair, Ahmadnagar, Srinagar at 10 am on July 13.
