JAMMU, June 29: Forum of Recognised Colleges (FORCE) held a meeting, which was chaired by its president and former Minister Harbans Singh and attended by majority of members.
Harbans Singh while speaking sought views of the members in order to devise the future course of action so as to press their demand for adopting a uniform policy of duration for the BEd and MEd courses both in Kashmir and Jammu Province including eligibility criteria and other norms laid down for these courses.
During the meeting, the members unanimously condemned the discriminatory attitude of Government and University of Jammu by adopting the recommendations of Justice Verma Commission for enhancing the duration of BEd and MEd courses from one year to two years and maintaining the status quo for these courses i,e one year duration in the colleges affiliated to Kashmir university.
The role of Jammu University and their attitude towards the youths of Jammu province came under severe criticism in the meeting and the University authorities were to read the writings on the walls and the University will be directly responsible for the law and order problems in the Jammu province.
