DODA, Apr 22: Police arrested an accused for raping a minor girl and his father for abetting him. However, some police personnel including Head Constable (HC) were attacked by the family members of the accused, when they tried to arrest the accused.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Doda Mohammad Sharief Chouhan said that on September 30, 2013, Bhagmal, son of Ghlabu lodged a complaint at police station Doda that his daughter was raped by Sarveshwar alias Sonu, son of Babu Ram of Ghagla, Kashtigarh as a result she got pregnant and delivered a dead male baby.
The statement of the victim was recorded in the Court of law and the offence was fully established, SSP said, adding that a case under FIR number 272/13 under Section 376 and 109 RPC was registered at police station Doda against the rapist and his father for abetting the rape.
Mr Chouhan added that on specific inputs, police party from Kashtigarh police post when reached village Ghagla to arrest the rapist Sarvershwar Kumar, family members and other villagers resisted the arrest of accused and tried to over power police party.
However, police party managed to escape from the village alongwith the accused person, he added.
Meanwhile, father of the rapist Babu Ram, son of Badhlu Ram of Ghagla, Kashtigarh was trying to escape towards Jammu and was intercepted at Assar by a police party from Doda police station.
“At the time of arrest a group of persons including few ladies resisted the arrest and obstructed the police party and also assaulted the police personnel due to which some police officials including HC Mohd Shafi sustained minor injuries”, SSP said, adding that in this regard complaint under Section 186 CrPC is being separately filed in the court of law.
Both the accused persons are presently in police custody and are being questioned regarding the offence, SSP maintained.
