SRINAGAR, Mar 22: Former Chief Minister  and National Conference president Dr Farooq Abdullah today called for a united front to foil the machinations of communal and divisive elements, saying that the spirit of inclusiveness alone can steer Jammu and Kashmir out of the prevailing morass and political instability.
Stepping up his electoral campaign for by-poll in Srinagar Parliamentary Constituency, during his interaction with various deputations and workers at party office here today,  Dr Abdullah cautioned against the attempts being made to divide people, generate mistrust and hate between various segments of society and above all subjecting the people of Kashmir to humiliation and harassment on daily basis.
“PDP has volunteered to be RSS flag-bearer to trample the unique identity of Jammu and Kashmir and demolish its time-tested secular ethos”, Dr Abdullah said and referred to the systematic erosion of the State’s special status being carried out by the present ruling combine.
In this context, he also referred to the sensational revelations of Tariq Hameed Karra, who exposed the nefarious BJP-PDP game-plan and hoped that the people would give the anti-J&K forces a befitting reply through their power of ballot.
Dr Abdullah exhorted the people to stand guard against sinister moves being perpetrated by forces inimical to the uniqueness of Kashmiriyat and strengthen the bonds of amity and brotherhood. He hoped the people of Srinagar, Budgam and Ganderbal districts will come forward in a big way and endorse their commitment to safeguarding singular entity of the State and ending the era of uncertainty in Kashmir.
“The PDP and BJP combination has developed vested interest in keeping Kashmir on boil”, the NC  president said, adding that the people of the Valley have become target of their ulterior motives.
He said  his party will fight tooth and nail the anti-people policies of the Coalition Government.
Prominent among those who addressed the workers included senior leaders – Ali Mohammed Sagar, Abdul Rahim Rather, Mian Altaf. Ch Mohammed Ramzan, Dr Sheikh Mustafa Kamal,  Khalid Najeeb Suhrawardy and  Kafeel-ur-Rehman.
