Excise Department conducts raids in Bishnah, RS Pura

JAMMU, Jan 9: In order to curb the menace of illicit distillation of liquor, illegal smuggling of liquor from other States, the JK Excise Department has intensified raids, checking of various locations premises to check the offences and crimes being committed.
Under the overall supervision of Excise Commissioner, T Angchuk and Deputy Excise Commissioner (Executive), Jammu Ghanshyam Singh an Excise team led by ETO City Excise Range South Rohit Sharma and ETO Eradication Wing  Jammu, Dr Suraj Chander Singh assisted by Inspector Ritesh Gupta and Sub Inspector Parshant Mathur conducted series of raids in Bishnah and R S Pura ranges in the villages of Deoli, Makhanpur, Salehar, Kothey Bulandey, Dablehar, Kotlimian Fateh, Tara Chak, Sheikhpura and Shibuchak to arrest the menace of illicit liquor.
During the raids two persons namely Toshi Devi, W/o Joginder Kumar, of Tarachak and Bino Devi W/o Bittu Lal also of Tarachak were arrested and booked under Section 48 of J&K Excise Act for possession of three bottles of illicit liquor. Besides 200 kgs of Lahan and five bottles of illicit liquor made from Lahan which is highly hazardous and injurious for health were recovered by the raiding team from the State land and destroyed on the spot.
