Efforts being made to improve road connectivity: Govt

SRINAGAR, Oct 8: Minister for R&B, Syed Altaf Bukhari informed the Assembly that seven roads are proposed to be taken up for laying of 25 mm SDBC and 50 mm BM during current fiscal under Improvement in Ridding Quality Surface in City / Town roads programme in Suchetgarh constituency.
This was stated by the Minister in reply to a question by Sham Lal Choudhary here today. He said out of these, one road stands completed, contract for 5 roads fixed and tendering for remaining one road is under process. He said the works are expected to be completed by end of December 2015.
The Minister informed that DPRs for construction of bridge over nallah Aik at Sai-Kalan to Mule-Check road and at Sai/Jora Nekowal have been prepared at a cost of Rs 29.24 crore and Rs 26.01 crore respectively. He said the projects are not approved under any scheme at present.
The Minister said that improvement and upgradation of roads is a continuous programme executed across the State each year as per the availability of sources.
In reply to the supplementaries by Aijaz Ahmed, Dina Nath, Dr Gagan Bhagat and Shakti Raj Parihar, the R&B Minister said that concerted efforts are being made to improve the road connectivity in every constituency under different schemes. He assured the members that their genuine demands for upgradation of road connectivity would be incorporated in action plans well in time.
