JAMMU, Oct 15: Durga Nagar Welfare Committee today appealed Khurshid Ahmed Ganai and BB Vyas, Advisors to Governor SP Malik to intervene into the matter as despite many requests to concerned higher ups, residents of Durga Nagar are facing multiple problems due to acute water supply crisis and absence of street lights.
Chairing a meeting of the Committee, in which water scarcity problem in Durga Nagar, Dogra Nagar and Durga Nagar Enclave was thoroughly discussed, Roshan Lal Raina (president) said that they were already facing water supply crisis due to PHE workers strike and now due to some mechanical fault in the electric motor of water supply station, the water supply gap has increased further.
The Committee demanded that a standing motor of the same volume or same size should be in hand, so that water supply is not disrupted. The meeting also demanded that water should be provided to the overhead tank, Durga Nagar from Muthi Gaon before 12 PM to avoid water crisis. The meeting urged Advisor Khurshid Ahmed Ganai to intervene into the matter.
The meeting also observed that on their request to concerned AEE regarding repair of street lights, the department had issued some electric wires, switches and electric lamps but that is not sufficient as the area is vast. The speakers appealed BB Vyas to instruct Commissioner Secretary, Municipal Corporation for providing more material so that all the damaged lamps, switches and lights may be replaced.
