JAMMU, Nov 29: Dr Vikas Gupta of Krishi Vigyan Kendra Leh, has been awarded Young Scientist Award and Best Paper Award in the recently held international conference at Banaras Hindu University.
Dr  Vikas Gupta, son of  Kulbushan Gupta and Aruna Gupta, resident of Jawahar Nagar, Udhampur,  got the awards  in International Conference on Agricultural, Allied Sciences and Biotechnology for Sstainability of Agriculture, Nutrition and Food Security,  held on 25-26, November 2017 at Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi.  The award contains a certificate of excellence along with memento.
Dr  Vikas Gupta has been honored with young scientist award by Mahima Research Foundation in  said international conference for his outstanding contribution and recognition in the field of Research and Extension regarding development of Agriculture, Mushroom and Horticulture sector in Leh. He has done several innovations in cold desert Leh and introduced several new technologies in the region to promote agriculture and its allied sector for socio-economic upliftment of the farming community of Leh. He established spawn cum pathology lab and mushroom demonstration unit in the region.
He has more than 100 publications to his credit including full length research papers, book chapters, edited book, abstracts, Research Articles etc. He is also reviewer of two national and two international journals.
The paper presented by him entitled “climate change impact on major pest outbreak in high Himalayan and its integrated management” got best paper award in the  said conference.
