The works undertaken in the review meeting included 6 in district Kathua, one major one, that of Dhar-Udhampur in district Udhampur and another major one, that of Bhagwa-Lal Draman in district Doda.
In the discussion, the issue relating to forest clearance with regard to the Basohli-Bani road also came up and BRO Chief referred to a detailed report which he has sent to the State Government in this regard. Pertinent to mention here that this important road consists of three major bridges at Jihear Nallah, Jhota Nallah and Sukha Nallah respectively and it will serve as an important connecting link in the area.
Dr Jitendra Singh said, the timeline for another important BRO road in Kathua district, namely Parmanand-Taragarh-NJS-Parole has been fixed for completion in 2018 and it also involves construction of 3 bridges, including those on Begwal Nallah and Baknor Nallah.
The timeline for completion of Chann-Khatriyan-Kattal-Gurjan-Londi-Bobiya in district Kathua was also fixed for 2019. Similarly, the work on Rajpura-Madwal-Pangadur-Phulpur-Causeway is nearly complete as far as road is complete, but a 617 meter span bridge located at 0.8 kms location may take another two years.
For Parole-Korepannu-Rajpura, it was informed that the intervention DGMO may be required for certain clearances and the exercise will be initiated for the same immediately.
The important Dhar-Udhampur road involves construction of a 259 metre span bridge at km 42.59 and it may take another one year for completion, whereas the timeline for the entire road was 2019. As for the Doda district, at the initiative of Dr Jitendra Singh, a proposal has been moved for construction of 65 km. long Bhagwa-Laldraman road at an estimated cost of Rs.650 crore. However, it may not be possible to initiate the work in immediate future because of the procedural reasons, issues of funding and other clearances.
In addition, Dr Jitendra Singh also suggested to BRO  the project of road construction from Kishtwar to Zanskar and also referred to the requirement of half-a-kilometer tunnel between Gool and Bhadhan. The issue of blacktopping of the road from Nagri to Jaimal Singh Narote and the bridge at Bajoo Nallah on Nagri to Narote road were also discussed.
