NEW DELHI, Nov 29: Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh has lauded Bharatiya Janata Party’s breakthrough electoral victory in Manipur State where, after a long time, two BJP candidates were elected in the Assembly by-election held last week. He also congratulated the recently appointed General Secretary (Org.) Ajay Jamwal.
Felicitating the former Minister, four-time MLA and BJP State Vice President, Valte Hangkhanlian, who called on him here today, Dr Jitendra Singh said, it is a development of great significance that in a State where BJP was waiting for revival, today, the party has won with decisive margins. He conveyed his compliments to the entire State unit of BJP and the two newly elected MLAs, namely, Thongam Biswajit Singh, who won the Thongju Assembly seat by defeating his Congress rival by nearly 3, 000 votes and Kumukcham Joykishen, who won the Thangmeiband Assembly seat by defeating his Congress rival by nearly 2, 000 votes. This historic by-election would also set the trend for the regular Assembly elections scheduled to be held in the State in 2017, he added.
Dr Jitendra Singh said, BJP’s development plank placed before the electorate along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s  clarity of vision and President Amit Shah’s perseverance has begun to make the people living in remote peripheral areas of Northeast realise the benefits of India’s fast-track growth and the reflection of this will also be evident in the Assam Assembly election to be held next year. The people of Northeast are rallying around BJP, not only for its ideology but also for its policy of equality and justice to all, which has negated the false propaganda hitherto spread against the party by Congress and its allies.
Valte Hangkhanlian said, the credit, to a great extent, goes to the focused concentration and astute strategy adopted by the Central leadership of BJP, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and National President Amit Shah. He also gave credit to the frequent tours undertaken by DoNER Minister Dr Jitendra Singh to the State of Manipur during recent incidents of floods and violent killings.
