Distt Adm foils land grabbing bid, stops work in Sainik Colony

JAMMU, Apr 14:  Acting swiftly, the  District Administration Jammu today stopped the construction work on the land just closer to Heritage School in Sainik Colony area here.
Official  sources said that on receiving public complaint that some people have encroached upon a   piece of Govt land which is `Gair Mumkan Khud’ and were carrying on construction work illegally, in sheer violation of J&K High Court orders.
Upon this, the  officiating Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Anuradha Gupta, Additional DC Arun Manhas, SDPO  East,  Arun Jamwal along with some Policemen and Revenue officials rushed to the site during the day and stopped the illegal work being carried out  there,  disrupting natural course of water of the old Khud.  The District Administration also directed Tehsildar concerned to hold inquiry and  submit report and also go for physical verification/ status of the land.
A  police team was also deployed there to prevent the land grabbers to initiate work on the said land during night. Taking advantage of the public holidays, they tried to encroach upon the land and raise  huge construction through day and night work. SHO concerned was directed to monitor the activities there.
