JAMMU, June 27: The district administration Jammu today organised a special sensitization camp for transporters and drivers ahead of the Amarnathji yatra commencing from July 2.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Simrandeep Singh termed the transport operators as the first receivers of the pilgrims. He asked them to guide the pilgrims properly so that they do not face any inconvenience during their pilgrimage. He also asked them not to take the pilgrims to Jammu Haat as the centre for issuing tokens and instructions has been shifted to Sangam Banquet Hall (SRTC Hall) at Rail Head Complex.
Stressing upon the transporters to hold high the principle of ‘Atithi Devo Bhava’, the DC said that Jammu and Kashmir receives a large number of pilgrims and tourists every year and “it is our duty to provide them friendly atmosphere here so that they can spread the message of friendship and unity to other parts of the country. He asked the taxi drivers to behave well with pilgrims so they do not feel bad and cheated.
“Pilgrims coming to the State are our ambassadors to promote tourism so it is the responsibility of transporters to welcome them with open heart and provide requisite information and hassle free transportation”, the DC added. He asked the Auto Driver Union to display fare list on each auto rickshaw for the convenience of pilgrims.
Meanwhile, the meeting was informed that   temporary toilets will be provided at the Taxi Stand, Railway Station Jammu during the yatra days, while for spot registration counters have been established at Vaishnavi Dham,  Sarasvati Dham at Railway Station and Mahajan Sabha Community Hall near Ranbireshwar Temple at Shalimar Road.
