DDC discusses City Development Plan

RAJOURI, Jan 11: District Development Commissioner (DDC), Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary today reviewed the City Development Plan for construction of public amenities and infrastructure and also approved the rehabilitation plan for the displaced families.
The meeting was attended by SSP Yougal Manhas, CPO AH Choudhary, ACD Noor Alam, ACR Abdul Qayoom Mir, DSWO Dr Abdul Khabir, AD FCS&CA Javed Iqbal, Deputy Registrar Cooperatives Waqar Talib, Tehsildar Salam Din, BDO ZA Kaifi and other officers of the department.
District Administration approved the construction of city park to be established over an area of 35 kanals which will be a major recreation facility. Establishment of two parking lots and construction of circular road from new bridge to Tariq bridge were also finalised as DPR for these have already been prepared. Parking lots will be established on land measuring 50 kanals at two locations. Discussion was also held regarding establishment of bus stand for Mughal road, and vehicles bound for Darhal and Thannamandi routes.
Meanwhile, the rehabilitation plan for 6 families dislocated on account of re-development plan was also finalised providing establishment of houses under Government schemes involving 10 marla land per household in Khasra No 261, housing assistance involves Rs 2.50 lakh. Pertinently, Rs 25,000 cash assistance and one month ration apart from temporary accommodation have been provided to all six families already.
The committee of officers also discussed construction of alternate road for old district hospitals in view of establishment of 2 major institutions, foot-over bridge for Government Boys Higher Secondary School and widening of Gujjar Mandi road apart from other vital developmental projects. Department of Revenue, PWD, Municipality along with BRO will develop the plan for organised development of amenities in town in a time-bound manner during current financial year. It was also decided in the meeting that available land within municipal lands will be acquired for public infrastructure.
Fencing of State land measuring 431 kanal in the vicinity of town was also discussed and revenue officials were directed for further mapping of State land and common lands for retrieval and necessary legal action. Some of the persons involved in sale of State land have also been identified during the ongoing investigation it was revealed in the meeting. Meanwhile, District Administration has appealed all the sections of society to cooperate with law enforcement authorities in removal of encroachments from vital public utilities especially roads and markets to decongest the town and providing public infrastructure.
