DB’s directive to JMC Comm on Parade play ground

JAMMU, Sept 30: In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking direction to respondents against using Parade playground as parking spot, Division Bench of State High Court comprising Justice Virender Singh and Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur today directed Commissioner Jammu Municipal Corporation to file affidavit.
After hearing Advocate Aparajita Jamwal appearing for the PIL filed by Shambu Nath, the then Vice-Chairman of J&K Cricket Association whereas Advocate SS Nanda appearing for the Jammu Municipal Corporation, DB directed Commissioner JMC that he shall file an affidavit within three days to the effect that play ground is no longer permitted to be used as parking place and shall not be used for that purpose in future also.
“With a view to verify as to whether the Parade play ground is being used generally as a parking place or not, it is necessary to appoint a Court Commissioner who shall go to the spot and report the exact status”, the DB said. Accordingly, Advocate YE Tak was appointed as Court Commissioner, who will submit report within a period of two days.
In the meantime, Advocate SS Nanda appearing for the JMC shall ensure that no vehicle is permitted to be parked in the Parade Ground and this direction shall be carried out by the Commissioner JMC and IGP Traffic shall render all assistance to the Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation for implementation of this order, the DB said.
