KATHUA, May 14: Three persons including a young couple committed suicide at two different places in Kathua district today.
According to reports, a couple identified as Kishori Lal, 34 and his wife Renu, 29, hanged themselves with branches of a tree in Lohi Malhar area of Kathua district today. Their bodies were found by the neighbours hanging with the tree who informed the police.
A police party from PS Billawar rushed to the spot and shifted the bodies to Billawar Sub District Hospital for postmortem. They will be handed over to family members for last rites after conducting the legal formalities. The Billawar Police had registered a case under Section 174 and started investigation in this regard.
In another incident a 20 year old youth identified as Manjit Singh, son of Prem Singh of Hatli Govindsar committed suicide by throwing himself on railway track who was run over by the Malwa Express which was on way from Delhi to Jammu this evening.
The family was informed by Govindsar Railway Police Station. He was a factory worker. The dead body was shifted to District Hospital Kathua for postmortem and the Govindsar Police had registered a case under Section 174 and started investigation.
The cause of the extreme step taken by all the three was not known.
