Cop held for conniving with Sr PO

JAMMU, Mar 20: State Vigilance Organization (SVO) today arrested a constable posted in JMIC Court Mendhar, who was found involved in demand and acceptance of Rs 2 lakh by Senior Prosecuting Officer in a murder case.
The Senior Prosecuting Officer namely Ajaz Ul Hassan was arrested under Prevention of Corruption Act and Section 120-B RPC for demand and acceptance of bribe of Rs 2 lakh from Moulvi Mushtaq Ahmed, son of Mohd Iqbal of Panaid in Kotranka tehsil of Rajouri district for not arraying him in the murder case registered at Darhal Police Station.
During sustained questioning of Senior Prosecuting Officer and further investigations into the case, the SVO found the involvement of constable Istkhar Ahmed Qureshi presently posted in JMIC Court Mendhar.
Accordingly, a team was deputed to Mendhar and the accused constable was arrested. He was, later, produced before Special Judge Anti Corruption Court, Rajouri.
The court has remanded the constable to police custody.
