KISHTWAR, Mar 30: Contractors Association held a protest here today against Chenab Valley Power Projects Limited (CVPPL) management.
Large number of contractors assembled in front of CVPPL Office at Semna and held protest for several hours. They raised slogan against the CVPPL management.
The protesting contractors said that CVPPL is favouring the outsider contractors to work in Kishtwar, which they don’t allow.
They alleged that CVPPL is favoring non-local contractors by way of keeping the local contractors away from tendering process.
The protesting contractors added that CVPPL has put such conditions for tendering under which no local contractors can qualify.
They said that in the absence of other industries in the region, hydro electric sector is the main source of employment but unfortunately authorities of CVPPL are ignoring them and treating step motherly with them.
They demanded that the conditions in the tendering process be revoked and tendering process be made easier so that local contractors can also be accommodated.
“The CVPPL authority should follow the rules and regulations as per PWD and others constructions agency of J&K, so that the local contractors of the District Kishtwar can qualify the tender process.
