Cong attacks Modi over demonetization

Srinagar, Jan 3: Congress leaders today launched scathing attacks on Prime Minister Narendra Modi over demonetization and blamed him for the deaths that occurred in the various parts of country due to scrapping of high value denominations.
Addressing a presser here, former Haryana Minister Aftab Ahmad accompanied by party spokesperson, Farooq Andrabi, blamed the Centre for more than hundred deaths in the country due to the demonetization and demanded probe into these deaths. He said Prime Minister “is directly responsible for these deaths and he owes an explanation to the nation”.
The Congress leaders asked Prime Minister to explain people how much black money Government has recovered from black money hoarders so far. The Congress also asked Modi where is that recovered black money “as the people want to know what Centre has achieved by changing currency of the country overnight”.
Meanwhile while addressing the party workers in frontier Kupwara district, former Delhi lawmaker and senior leader of Congress, Mateen Ahmad accompanied by General Secretary Surinder Singh Channi, lashed out at Union Government for making people of country suffer “by enacting different stories with regard to demonetization, which has not only cost precious live; but has badly affected the country’s economy, the impact of which would be so dangerous and disturbing”.
Later addressing a presser, both Mateen Ahmad and Surinder Singh Channi sought explanation from Centre Government over various aspects connected with demonetization and blamed the Prime Minister for “creating chaotic situation in the country due to unwanted demonetization”.
Aftab accompanied by several Congress leaders later addressed media and accused the Centre of failing to prove its claim with regard to demonetization “which has inflicted heavy losses to people especially country’s economy”.
