‘Commission fails to do justice with OBCs’

JAMMU, Nov 14: Opposing reservations to the Paharis, State unit of All India Backward Classes Union (Social) has alleged that the State Commission for BCs has failed to provide justice to the community.
In a prèss statement here a spokesman of the Union said that NC–Congress granted reservation to Paharis @ 5% in 2014 Assembly session which was turned down by the State Governor NN Vohra. The case was referred to the Law Deptt and then to the Social Welfare Deptt in February 2015. The recommendations of State Backward Classes for 3 % reservation to Paharis is baseless and can not be termed as the job of the State Backward Classes Commission.
The job of the Commission is to include / exclude and to see the over-inclusion or under inclusion of Classes and Commission in no way has any power to recommend the percentage of reservation quota. He said the SWD can out rightly reject the reservation recommendations of the State Backward Classes Commission, Chairman and members of the Commission have forgotten that the duty of the Commission is only to identify castes on the bases of educationally and socially backwardness which were deprived from their living rights since centuries together.
But under Commission’s recommendation, this reservation may go to the upper castes residing at District / Tehsil / Blocks, not covered in RBA reservation and who are already enjoying 82% reservation of the state jobs. He termed this as a conspiracy hatched by the present BJP-PDP Govt against the OBCs.
