Collective efforts needed to secure future of underprivileged children: Priya

JAMMU, Apr 17: Minister of State for Education, Technical Education, Tourism and Culture, Priya Sethi has underlined the need for collective efforts for securing future of underprivileged children.
“The civil society and Government should come forward to remove the social stigma towards certain sections and work in a collaborated manner to pave the way for their better future” she said while addressing students staff and the management at the annual day function of Bal Bharti Public School, Channi Rama.
Prominent among those present on the occasion were Chairman, Bal Bharti Public School, A K Khajuria, Secretary, Vinod Raina, Patron, Balgran, A K Arora, Principal, Urmal Arora alongwith staff and faculty members.
Attaining 18th years of its existence, Bal Bharti School, run by an NGO Balgran, provides educational opportunity to the orphan, underprivileged and the children of the families displaced to certain reasons.
The event witnessed a scintillating cultural bonanza by the students featuring dance, music and skits.
Cash rewards and mementos were presented to the students who excelled in academics, sports and other extracurricular activities.
Later, Principal presented the annual report.
The Minister emphasized on integrating vocational training with the academics for the holistic growth of the students. She said that vocational training must be made compulsory for skill development of the students.
Priya Sethi assured that the Technical Education Department will provide every possible support to the school, adding that the directions have already been issued to RMSA to include private school teachers in their workshops for vocational training. She further stressed on encouraging children to excel in academics and extracurricular activities as well.
The Minister also made commitments to build a class room and develop the play ground in the school premises through her CDF.
While interacting with the children, the Minister asked them to take inspirations from the lives of great personalities to overcome challenges and difficulties and wished them a great success for the future.
The Minister also took a round of the school and assessed the facilities being provided to the students.
