CM pitches for adherence to project timelines

SRINAGAR, June 30: Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti today underscored the need for putting in place a project monitoring apparatus to evaluate the completion pace, funding and quality assurance of ongoing developmental projects in the State.
The Chief Minister made these remarks while chairing a meeting to review some key infrastructural projects in the State.
Mehbooba Mufti said the monitoring mechanism would ensure timely completion of projects thereby giving the people the benefits for which these are started. “It’s not a matter of cost over runs only. It’s a question of social relevance and needs of these projects which keep changing fast and which ought to be kept in mind”, she said and directed strict adherence to the timeline completion of the developmental projects.
The Chief Minister said alongside evaluating the timeline completion of any project, it is equally important that the fund flow for the project is timely reviewed so that no project gets stuck because of shortage of funds at the completion time and funds are arranged well in time. She said quality check of the projects should also be undertaken during the process not to leave any scope for any complaints after the projects are completed.
The meeting was informed that currently 195 projects are under execution in the State by Police Housing Corporation (PHC) costing Rs. 492 crore. The Corporation, the meeting was informed, has completed 607 projects costing Rs. 2461 crore across the State ever since its inception.
Among the projects under execution include health facilities at Chadoora, Magam, Makahama, Dooru, Udhampur, Ramban, Kathua and other places besides other Government infrastructure.
Chief Secretary, B. B. Vyas; Director General of Police, Dr. S. P. Vaid; Principal Secretary Home, R. K. Goyal; MD, JK Police Housing Corporation, V. K. Choudhary; Secretary, Planning, Salim Sheshgar and other officers were present in the meeting.
