JAMMU, Aug 10: A girl student of class 11th was today found hanging at her uncle’s residence in Sohanjana area of city outskirts.
According to a police spokesman, a young girl identified as Janvi (17) daughter of Ramesh Lal, resident of Makwal (Phlian Mandaal), had gone to her maternal uncle’s residence at Sohanjana, where she was found hanging with a fan.
He said as soon as relatives of the girl found her hanging, they rushed her to Primary Health Centre in unconscious condition, where doctors declared her as brought dead. “After conducting post-mortem, the body of the deceased was handed over to its legal heirs for last rites”, he added.
The spokesman said Satwari police had initiated inquest proceedings under 174 CrPC in the case.
