CJ advises lawyers to refrain from suspension of work in courts

JAMMU, Mar 13: Chief Justice of J&K High Court Justice Bader Durrez Ahmed today advised the lawyers to refrain from suspension of work in the courts as the same causes great hardships to the justice seekers.
Addressing a function organized by J&K High Court Bar Association, Jammu to bid him farewell, Justice Ahmed, who is demitting the office of the  Chief Justice on superannuation on March 15, lauded the role of legal fraternity of  J&K as also the role played by the members of High Court Bar Association, Jammu in extending their sincere cooperation and assistance in conducting the court proceedings.

“I had a very short tenure in J&K but I put all my efforts to take the courts in the State to new heights and as on date J&K is one such State which has attained the position of being one of courts in the country to lead in the digitalization field and has taken the lead in deciding the cases by holding video conferencing”, he said.
He suggested the members of the Association to refrain from suspension of work in the courts as it causes great hardships to the justice seekers in the courts.
Earlier, while addressing the function, President of the Bar Senior Advocate B S Slathia said that Justice Badar Durrez Ahmed has brought a revolution in equipping the courts in the State.
It was during his short tenure that video conferencing was introduced in the courts in J&K for deciding the cases, he further said, adding with his expertise in the field, the State has taken the lead in establishment of e-cause list, SMS/ E-mail alert facility, introduction of case history link on the official website of Jammu & Kashmir High Court etc.
Chairperson State Accountability Commission Justice B A Khan, former Judges of the High Court Justice K K Gupta, Justice O P Sharma and Justice Sunil Hali, Senior Advocates U K Jalali, Sunil Sethi, K S Johal, Surinder Kour and office bearers of the Bar Association were among those present on the occasion.
Prem Sadotra, General Secretary of the Bar compared the proceeding of the function while as Sachin Gupta, Vice President presented the vote of thanks.
