KATHUA, Nov 19: A five year old child drowned in Kathua canal near Hatli More today.
He was identified as Tahir Hussian, S/o Nazir Hussian of Parmore Ward No 14, Kathua.
As per reports, the child was playing in his compound and the canal is passing near by. It is not known how the child slipped into canal. As the child did not return to his house for a long time the parents tried to search him. Later they filed a report with Hatli More Police Post which also started search of the child. As there was no clue of missing child, the parents pressed for closing the canal and the water was depleted from it. As the water was depleted from the canal the body of child was found trapped in the siphon near DH Kathua.
The police after taking body in to its custody later handed over it to the family for burial. The P P Hatli More has registered a case under relevant sections of the law in this regard.
