Chandigarh University announces scholarship scheme for J&K students

JAMMU, June 29: Chandigarh University (CU) has formulated a special scholarship scheme for the meritorious students of J&K so that they are rewarded for their performance in University and Board Examinations and are able to pursue higher education without any hassles.
Announcing the details during a press conference, here today, the CU spokesman Ravi Sinha said that any 10+2 or Graduation passing-out student of any stream with 80 percent or above can apply for 100 percent academic scholarships at Chandigarh University.
“Besides scholarships, students from J&K stand to reap benefits while studying at Chandigarh University, as good placements have always been top priority which can be established by the fact that more than 425 Multi-Nationals have offered 4690 placements to 2015 passing-out students till date,” Sinha said.
Companies like Amazon, Microsoft, IBM, Google, Tech-Mahindra and L&T visited University campus at Gharuan this year for campus recruitments.
“More than 215 students of Engineering, Management and Hotel Management from J&K have managed to get 295 offer letters from these top notch MNCs during campus placements 2015, which is about 80 percent higher than the placements held in 2014,” Ravi Sinha informed.
Presently, 890 students from different parts of J&K are studying at Chandigarh University, which has emerged as the top destination for the students for their higher education.
Mr Sinha said that CU-Gharuan has adopted world class Teaching model on the patterns of IIM’s and IIT’s and is providing ample number of opportunities in research in the field of Engineering & Technology. “For promotion of innovation, CU is hub for Centre of Excellence (CoE) established by top notch Multi-Nationals such as Microsoft, IBM, Wipro, Infosys, Tech-Mahindra, Quarks and Mahindra & Mahindra where students are given hands-on experience to learn emerging technologies and cater to Industry needs by working on live projects. Further, he added, CU has become North India’s first university to have signed partnership with more than 100 top ranking international universities from all across the globe.
Prabhdeep Singh, Associate Professor & Head, Public Relations, informed that more than 150 scholarships have been offered by the partner universities in USA, UK, Canada, Australia and European Union to the students of Chandigarh Universities in different domains or fields under which more than 500 students have applied for the summer internship and semester exchange programs.
As a mark of respect towards the Defense personals for their service towards Nation, Chandigarh University has also announced 2 percent seats reserved in every course offered at university for the wards of serving/martyred defense personals. “The University also has also announced academic scholarship upto 25 percent for the wards of the security/military/para-military forces.
