LEH, Mar, 13: Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC, Leh Dr. Sonam Dawa Lonpo and EC Animal & Sheep Mmutaz Hussain today convened a meeting of officers headed by Additional Deputy Commis-sioner, Leh Mozes Kunzang at Council Secretariat here. The meeting was convened for development of slaughter houses at Chushot & Stok area in scientific manner and to shift temporary slaughter house from Bomb Garh to Chushot & Stok area at the earliest, Others who attended the meeting were Administrator MC, Leh, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer Leh, Executive Engineers of Construction and PHE divisions and Tehsildar Leh.
The meeting after detail discussion and at and on spot visit of slaughter house sites and Bomb Garh area decided to develop the slaughter house area at Chushot & Stok in most scientific and organized way. CEC Dr. Dawa directed Chief Animal Husbandry Officer to prepare a comprehensive DPR of the slaughter house keeping in mind the importance of Hygiene and use of animal wastes as manure etc. For funding of the project, Dr. Dawa directed Administrator MC Leh Dr. Zaida to submit the same project to Urban Development Ministry of the State Government at the earliest and assured Council’s strong follow-up to through the project.
To give a facelift to the slaughterhouse in coming months, the meeting decided to start the project in phased manner and Dr. Dawa directed Dr. Zaida to release funds for earliest fencing of the slaughter house area through Rural Development Department for possible expansion of the area, He also issued directives to Tehsildar Leh to identify required land for the project and also give instructions to Executive Engineer PHE for earliest digging of bore well at the site.
The meeting also decided to develop butcher market near Polo Ground by demolishing government quarters adjacent to Polo Ground, Kidar House. CEC directed ADC Leh and Administrator MC Leh to prepare a plan for earliest development of butcher market so that butcher shops from Leh market would be shifted at the earliest.
While visiting Bomb Garh area, CEC Dr. Dawa stressed on earliest shifting of Bus Stand from Leh to Bus Terminal area and also urged Dr. Zaida to shift Kargil Taxi Stand from sport complex to Municipality area at Bomb Garh area.
