CDC organizes Principals’ meet on 17-by-17 Action Plan

JAMMU, Nov 13: Colleges Development Council, University of Jammu, organized Principals meet on Awareness on Digital Initiative 17-by-17, an initiative of the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India.  As per this initiative, a 17-point action plan has been adopted by the MHRD.
In order to improve the educational standards in the fast changing technology, educational institutions across the world are using the latest technology to better their functioning and the academic standards. Keeping all this in view and through a survey of All India Survey on Higher Education (AISHE), MHRD has also come up with the latest developments to keep up with the latest global trends without any loss of time and for this MHRD has requested all the Universities to implement the 17-point digital plan in their campuses and affiliated colleges. For this purpose, AISHE (All India Survey for Higher Education) has designed a simple Monitoring Portal for the Digital Action Plan and the same has been made operational by MHRD and being assessed by the University of Jammu.
The awareness meeting to discuss these entire 17-points digital plan with all the Principals of the affiliated colleges of the University of Jammu was organized to brief them about all the details and requirements associated so that the action plan is timely implemented in all the colleges.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof  Rajni Kant, Director, College Development Council, JU, made an elaborate overview of all the 17 points. Prof  M K Dhar  elaborated more on the platforms,  which are being provided by institutes like ISRO, IIT Kharagpur, IISc Bangalore, etc.
Prof  Keshav Sharma, Dean Academic Affairs, advised the gathering that the exercise needs to be implemented in a stipulated time in order to make the mission of MHRD a success.
Later Prof. Rajni Kant also provided the gist of the information required by the colleges that they have to submit to the University by November 30, 2017.  He emphasized  that the institutes need to strengthen IT enabled services in terms of better connectivity etc, ensure 24×7 electric supply, modifications in statutes for adopting the new methods/ technologies and preparation of action plan.
