UDHAMPUR, Dec 12: Demanding implementation of High Court order on no reservation in promotion during service, a peaceful candle light march was taken out in Udhampur town on Saturday evening.
The march was taken out under the banner of Joint Action Committee. A large number of people, including women, took part in the march, which took off from District Court Complex Udhampur and passed through Hospital Road, Chabutra Bazar and other areas before culmination at Indira Chowk, Gole Market.
Hundreds of employees from different department and cadre, took part in the candle light march and expressed their support for implementation of the High Court against reservation in promotions.
Before the culmination, the march was also addressed by some leaders of the Joint Action Committee, who appealed all the general category employees to participate in such demonstrations against reservation.
Those who addressed the gathering, included Jog Raj, Dr Vinay Gupta, Balbir Singh, Mohd Akram, Ajay Sharma, Sukhdev Singh, Sumit Kotwal, Sudesh Bharti, Ram Parshad Gupta and others.
