Canara Bank provides scholarship to SC/ST girls

Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Mar 30-Bari Brahmana Branch of Canara Bank, a leading Public Sector Bank today disbursed scholarships worth Rs 22,500 among SC/ST girl students of Government Girls Higher Secondary School Bishnah. The scholarship was given to the meritorious SC/ST girl students under Canara Vidya Jyoti Scheme - a Corporate Social Responsibility Initiative of the Canara Bank. This scheme was introduced by Canara Bank to encourage education among girl children belonging to SC/ST communities by extending financial support. Sandeep Gupta, Senior Manager explained to the parents, teachers and all other staff members regarding the importance of providing education to girl child. Parents of the students praised the initiative of the Canara Bank for providing the scholarship to the girls. Vice Principle of the school, Hari Sharma in his speech laid stress on the education of girl student in the society and lauded the initiative of the Canara Bank for providing the scholarship to the students. Earlier, also Reasi branch of Canara Bank had distributed the scholarship in Govt High School, Reasi. Sakshi Badyal, Agricultural Extension Officer presented the vote of thanks.
