Bukhari for effective communication between distt administration, political representatives

JAMMU, Mar 18: Minister for Horticulture, Syed Basharat Ahmed Bukhari today chaired District Development Board (DDB) meeting of district Poonch, stressing upon the administration for timely decision making, effective communication and follow up for streamlining implementation for the overall development of the district.
Deputy Chairman Legislative Council, Jahangir Hussain Mir, Vice-Chairman Advisory Board for Development of Gujjars & Bakerwals, Choudhary Zafar Ali, Vice-Chairman Advisory Board for Development of Pahari Speaking People, Kuldeep Raj Gupta, Vice-Chairman Advisory Board for Development of Scheduled Castes, Bhushan Lal Dogra, Vice-Chairman Advisory Board for Development of Kissans, Daljeet Singh Chib, Chairperson Social Welfare Board, Dr Nirmal Gupta, MLA Mendhar, Javed Ahmed Rana, MLA Poonch Haveli, Shah Muhammad Tantray, MLA Surankote, Choudhary Muhammad Akram, MLC Dr Shehnaz Ganai, MLC Yashpal Sharma,  attended the meeting.
The Minister, who is also Chairman of the Board, directed maintenance of effective communication between district administration and political representatives, adding that respective members of legislature should be taken on board while taking up new works in their constituencies and due consideration should be given to their priorities besides conveying prompt response to their suggestions and queries.
The Minister called for prioritization of various pending works and projects on the basis of urgency thereby speeding up their completion before the closure of the current financial year.
As per the decision of previous Board meeting ‘Comprehensive District Plan for Agriculture and Allied Sectors 2017-18 to 2021-22’ was launched on the occasion. The vision document will soon be placed in public domain for inviting suggestions and modifications from all stakeholders.
Deputy Chairman LC underscored the necessity of developing full potential of agriculture and horticulture sectors in the district for providing employment avenues to local youth.
Earlier, the District Development Commissioner briefed the meeting about the physical and financial progress achieved under different schemes in the district.
Legislators apprised the meeting on several issues especially emphasizing scarcity of potable water in the wake of recent drought, early replacement of damaged transformers for uninterrupted electricity supply, removal of encroachments besides constituency specific requirements.
The Board after having threadbare discussions on various demands of legislators decided that the issues pertaining to establishment of community bunkers/ toilets near LoC, air strip in Surankote besides identifying more medical blocks suited to economic and social needs will be recommended for consideration of the Chief Minister.
The District Development Board approved Rs 184.83 crore annual plan for 2017-18.
Among others, District Development Commissioner Muhammad Harun Malik, SSP Rajiv Pande, HODs of various departments and concerned senior officers were present in the meeting.
