BSS celebrates birth anniversary of Swami Pranvananda Maharaj

JAMMU, Feb 22: Bharat Sevashram Sangha (BSS), Panjgrain, Nagrota today organised a function to celebrate 120th birth anniversary of Yogacharya Srimat Swami Pranvananda Maharaj.
On the occasion, Priya Sethi, MLA and former MoS for Education, Information and Culture was the chief guest, while Yudhvir Sethi, State Vice President BJP was the guest of honour.
The programme started with pooja and aarti in traditional style of BSS which was held under the aegis of the Saint Srimat Swami Shresananda Maharaj.
While speaking on the occasion, Priya appreciated the social work done by the Organisation by reaching to the affected community members at the time of the natural calamities in the State. Serving people, who are socially deprived and economically weak through running health care institutions, is also appreciable, she added.
In his address, Yudhvir said that the Sevashram is involved in various social activities and is running a charitable school based on values. The need of the hour is to make the children aware about rich cultural heritage of the land, he added. “We must inculcate high ethos of our cultural heritage in our next generations so that our children know about our rich heritage”, he maintained.
Sethi said that the Yatri Niwas caters to the needs of the pilgrims coming to visit Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine is also a good facility provided by the Organisation.
Earlier, HC Katoch, Trustee and President of the J&K Chapter of the Bharat Sevashram Sangha Panjgrain, Nagrota presented the welcome address and threw light on the life of the founder of BSS Yogacharya Srimat Swami Pranvananda Maharaj and the activities of Sangha in J&K State.
Inderjeet Sharma, Trustee organized the event, while Sunila Sharma, Vice President SEEAS and Rajesh Verma, Publicity Secretary arranged the event of local folk song group.
A colourful programme of bhajan kirtan was also held where the school children took part. Besides this, the rural folk song groups brought by SEEAS also made the occasion very attractive.
In the end, prizes were distributed by the Priya Sethi and Yudhvir Sethi to the school children, faculty members and the rural folk song groups.
